It's that time of year

I’ve been running around in a panic all morning, because I thought I overslept. Of course, in reality, I just forgot to set my clocks. I realized this about 15 minutes ago and laughed at myself. I’m also a little surprised at how efficient I can be when I have to. Maybe I should try living my whole life like that.

Something I disabled when I put this up was the standard mood and music indicator.

Whenever I post something in here, it's because I'm in the mood to post something. If I'm not in the mood to post something, I don't. Mystery solved. Beyond that, if my tone doesn't tell you whether I'm feeling pissy or joking around, then F you! (Just kidding.)

As far as music goes, if anything, it's whatever is on the radio. I like music. I used to pay a lot more attention to it. But lately, it's just background noise. Pretty much anything to drown out the silence will do. More often than not, if I notice it, it's to think, "What is this crap?"

So, I don't label these entries with mood and/or music. It's not worth my time.

Recently read, reading, and soon to read

I thought I'd take a few moments to share some of my reading habits with you.

The most recent book I finished was Going Postal by Terry Pratchett, the 30th book in his series of Discworld novels. (And yes, I've read the previous 29 as well.)

Currently, I'm reading Outlaw by Scott McGough. I've never heard of him before. This is the novel based on the latest Magic: The Gathering expansion, Champions of Kamigawa. Yes, I play Magic, but this is the first time I've bothered to read a novel based on it in years. So far it doesn't suck -- and that's fairly high praise given the genre.

Upcoming, I have The System of the World by Neal Stephenson. It's the third book of a trilogy so I have to read it. Massive books and fairly dense. They can be a bit of a slog, and sometimes it almost seems like I'm a glutton for punishment, but by the time I get done, I realize I've really been enjoying them and can't wait for the next.

Finally, just today I bought Marvel 1602 by Neil Gaiman. Yeah, it's a funny book -- big, expensive, hardback "graphic novel." What if all the marvel characters started in Elizabethan England? It's Neil Gaiman. He writes real books as well as some of the best comics out there. I had to give it a chance.

So, that's the sort of stuff I read. If anyone else is interested, I might bother to sign up with an affiliates program with some on-line retailer so you can make me some money bu buying them using my links. Or not. Let me know what you think.
